Fat Police Are Triggering Eating Disorders in Kids

Kids have become obsessed with dieting to the point of nearly starving themselves to death, courtesy of America's crusade against childhood obesity.

Kids have become obsessed with dieting to the point of nearly starving themselves to death, courtesy of America's crusade against childhood obesity.

A new report published in the Journal of American Academy of Pediatrics links a 119-percent rise in hospitalizations for childhood eating disorders over the past decade to anti-obesity crusaders that are making kids too paranoid to eat anymore.

Dr. Tracie Pasold, director of the eating disorder clinic for Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ark., said she can confirm the report’s findings that anorexia and bulimia are taking a rising toll on America’s school children ranging from grades K-12: Her clinic sees 8 new patients a week on average.

“It’s becoming an issue for them eight years old, nine years old, ten years old,” Pasold said. “They’ve not been consuming enough calories to compensate for what they’re [sic] body needs based on energy levels and that sort of thing.”

Marketers are cashing-in on parents' paranoia about their kids becoming obese.

Marketers are cashing-in on parents' paranoia about their kids becoming obese.

In her expert opinion, Pasold believes America’s growing army of anti-obesity crusaders, from the White House to the Principal’s Office, are responsible for sparking eating disorders in school children. Kids are taking it upon themselves to excessively diet, avoid certain foods that have been demonized, and over-exercise because they’ve heard that’s what they need to do to be ‘healthy.’

And, what kid wouldn’t want to do whatever it takes to avoid bringing home a letter from school saying he or she is obese? Obesity has been declared a “disease” of “epidemic” proportions by bureaucrats, doctors, and the media, making kids go to extremes to avoid the devastating stigma it now carries.

Feds’ Love Affair with Cheese Has Fat Police Fuming

Hey, Michelle! If cheeseburgers are good enough for Barry, then they're good enough for the rest of us!

Hey, Michelle! If cheeseburgers are good enough for Barry, then they're good enough for the rest of us!

During her address to the National Restaurant Association in September, First Lady Michelle Obama condemned “mac and cheese” and “cheeseburgers” as threats to school kids’ health. She also suggested replacing whole and 2 percent milk with “1 percent or skim milk,” citing her concerns about too much dairy fat in kids’ diets.

Now, we get wind that the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) has launched a publicity campaign to re-introduce Americans to cheese, whether it’s found on top of greasy pizzas and burgers, drowning macaroni in its ooey goodness, or deep fried and dipped in marinara sauce. The USDA even created a front group called “Dairy Management” to mask its involvement in the effort, The New York Times reports:

Dairy Management, which has made cheese its cause, is not a private business consultant. It is a marketing creation of the United States Department of Agriculture — the same agency at the center of a federal anti-obesity drive that discourages over-consumption of some of the very foods Dairy Management is vigorously promoting.

Urged on by government warnings about saturated fat, Americans have been moving toward low-fat milk for decades, leaving a surplus of whole milk and milk fat. Yet the government, through Dairy Management, is engaged in an effort to find ways to get dairy back into Americans’ diets, primarily through cheese.

And, guess what? It’s about time at least one faction in the federal government stopped allowing itself to get steamrolled by anti-obesity crusaders who would rather remove certain food choices from Americans’ diets altogether than trust them to self-moderate their consumption of fats and sugars.

Florida Poised to ‘Expel’ Chocolate Milk from Public Schools

Click to learn why six leading health professional organizations say chocolate milk is good for kids health.

Florida’s Board of Education has declared its intent to remove chocolate milk from public school cafeterias, citing the threat it poses to children’s waistlines. If board members approve the controversial anti-obesity measure in December, Florida will be the first state in the nation to ban chocolate milk.

Board members say they will give careful consideration to the matter before meeting again in December, relying on the advice of pediatricians and nutrition “scholars” who have already indicated their support for the ban on chocolate milk.

Kathleen Shanahan, one board member who hasn’t been corrupted by rhetoric and propaganda from anti-obesity fear mongers, reminded her colleagues that school cafeteria managers and nutritionists who still think for themselves oppose efforts to ban chocolate milk.

While opponents of the chocolate milk ban warn that kids will stop drinking milk altogether if flavored options are eliminated, the state’s cherry-picked pediatricians and so-called nutrition “scholars” authoritatively declared, school kids will “drink whatever alternative beverages, such as water or juice, are available to them,” the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Don’t wait until December to find out the Board of Education’s final decision! Call the board members today and let them know their plan to ‘expel’ chocolate milk from public schools is absurd.

White House Anti-Obsesity Campaign Promotes Anti-Capitalist Agenda to Kids

First Nanny Michelle Obama wanted to create an “infographic” to illustrate how the so-called obesity ‘epidemic’ is striking-down American children, so she sponsored a contest in June through her “Let’s Move” crusade. The results are in, and one lucky youngster took the grand prize by citing information created by individuals and organizations that are more concerned about defeating capitalism than curbing obesity.

First, let’s take a look at the requirements for contestants in the anti-obesity propaganda creation contest:

The idea is to create an infographic that shows the current state of children’s health, and that illustrates some avenue to combat the epidemic, including: getting children a healthy start on life; empowering parents and caregivers; providing healthy food in schools; improving access to healthy, affordable food; and getting children more physically active.

Now, take a few moments to examine the submission that won Jenn Cash “Best Overall Infographic” design:

According to Good.is, the website partnering with the “Let’s Move” campaign in sponsoring the contest, “Cash’s time line showing the rise of childhood obesity compared to the growing amount of food we eat and TV we watch is a sobering reminder of what we need to do to make our children healthier. It’s incredibly well-sourced and well-illustrated and takes home our top prize.”

The Nanny State Liberation Front was curious to explore the links to sources displayed below Cash’s artwork to see just how “incredibly well-sourced” she is, and, if anything, we learned that she’s an incredibly creative young lady.

Cash cites 20 informational sources for the data depicted on her graph, including, of course, the “Let’s Move” website, as well as university studies and federal health reports. At least that information can be passed-off to the masses as coming from reputable sources with an ounce of credibility.

However, Cash also includes much less reputable and highly questionable sources that, upon closer inspection, reveal agendas that are remotely linked to curbing obesity and more aligned with promoting lifestyle behavior modification, as well as the anti-capitalist and anti-corporate agendas of individuals and organizations (something that Cash probably didn’t bother investigating or intentionally disregarded):

KillerCoke.org – A front group for union labor organizations and ‘progressive’ domestic and international organizations with anti-capitalist and anti-corporate agendas.

Wikipedia.org – That bastion of ‘truth’ and ‘knowledge’ where everything is factual until someone tries to disprove or discredit it — if allowed by the administrators who, of course, are unbiased and non-partisan. Cash relies heavily on the ‘truth tellers’ writing freely here for her artistic inspiration.

Michael Pollan – A darling of the State-Run Media and anti-obesity crusade, Pollan is a food writer and journalism professor at the University of California at Berkeley. He begins his book, In Defense of Food, by instructing readers, “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” Pollan’s critics warn unassuming readers of his agenda-driven rants, “He typically counsels readers to make their food decisions based on politics—not on what their bodies need.”

Becky Robbins – A self-described mother of two young children who likes to write in her free time. She is also “a customer service and sales representative,” but feels qualified to lecture readers about what she defines as healthy eating in her home and your own.

James Rada, Jr. – He likes to write “historical novels” that have nothing to do with health or obesity-related issues, but he did submit an article to eHow.com about the evils of high fructose corn syrup produced by ‘Big Corn’ and peddled by corporate food processors, so that must make him a nutrition expert, food scientist and economist.

Tracy Fernandez Rysavy – She’s a crunchy granola-eating, tree-hugging eco-activist and editor of Co-op America, “a national nonprofit helping people use their economic power for a more socially just and environmentally sustainable society.” She also has a vendetta against the Coca-Cola Company, calling its capitalist global operation a “sinister” cancer-causing menace to society.

Eric Schlosser – Author of the bestseller Fast Food Nation, he “was smart enough to know that a study of the intricacies of the ‘fast food’ industry would not appeal to most book-buyers. So instead of presenting an objective investigation of this major industry, or giving a fair shake to companies like McDonald’s (which offers one in 15 Americans entrée into the workforce), Schlosser used ‘fast food’ as the basis for a rhetorical assault on capitalism.” (Source: ConsumerFreedom.com)

Guadalupe Ayala, PhD – If you want to find cancer-causing agents in food sources, she’s your goto girl. She’s also working with the Cancer Center at the University of California at San Diego to “promote home and environmental change to prevent childhood obesity.” Knock-knock! Guadalupe doesn’t think your home is fit to raise your child.

30 Project – Another anti-capitalist, anti-corporate organization that has an axe to grind with the food and beverage industry, but this one wants to put us in a time machine and return to a magical time when people foraged for nuts and berries in the forest as opposed to shopping in grocery stores for “cheap processed foods.”

Cash’s research for her award-winning anti-obesity propaganda poster impressed likeminded judges, but the greatest impression could be that made on school children across America who will undoubtedly find her artwork hanging in their classrooms, cafeterias and gymnasiums.

Do you support government-sponsored propaganda being promoted among children with the ultimate goal of adjusting their lifestyles and behaviors to fit the molds that nanny state bureaucrats and special interest groups promote as serving their best interests?

Join the Nanny State Liberation Front and its 20,000 supporters on Facebook if you’re ready to put an end to big government interference in American citizens’ lives from the cradle to the grave.

Kids’ Meals Could Go Fry-Less Courtesy of the First Nanny

Once again, the First Nanny is caught telling kids, "Do as I say, not as I do."

Once again, the First Nanny is caught telling kids, "Do as I say, not as I do."

Addressing the National Restaurant Association in D.C. on Monday, Michelle Obama suggested the ‘default’ side-meal served alongside hamburger and chicken nuggets should be a healthier choice than French fries. However, the method she proposes restaurants use to implement her ‘suggestion’ teeters on sheer trickery.

“[Y]ou could make healthy sides like apple slices or carrots the default choice in a menu and make fries something customers have to request,” the First Nanny told restaurateurs.

Instead of letting parents decide upon ordering for their children whether they’d prefer French fries OR a healthier alternative, the First Lady wants to mandate that healthier alternatives automatically replace French fries unless a special request is made.

Kids (and, parents) automatically assume that when they order burgers at kid-friendly restaurants, French fries will accompany the meals. That’s not a surprise. What will be a surprise is when meals show-up at tables and kids are screaming because there are apple slices and carrots, but no French fries. And, that’s just trickery, not to mention, a waste of fruit and vegetables that will be thrown in the trash by restaurants forced to give kids what they really want.

Does that sound like a reasonable request from Michelle Obama, or should parents ultimately be charged with deciding whether or not their own children are given French fries with their meals at kid-friendly restaurants?

Poll Shows Media’s Efforts to Propagandize Obesity ‘Epidemic’ Proving Successful

The State-Run Media has proven itself effective in fear mongering on behalf of the First Lady.

The State-Run Media has proven itself effective in fear mongering on behalf of the First Lady.

The State-Run Media can pat itself on the back for a job well-done! A new poll shows that nearly 40 percent of Americans fear obesity is the greatest threat to tiny tots and teenagers, and it is only getting worse.

According to the pollsters at the University of Michigan Health System, fear among American adults that their children will be struck-down by the so-called obesity ‘epidemic’ runs counter to recent trends that show obesity rates beginning to level off. Perhaps, that is because the media continues to pummel parents with propaganda citing obesity’s wrath on Americans’ health while neglecting to mention any success stories in the ‘battle of the bulge.’

“[I]ncreasing concern among adults may relate less to the prevalence of obesity and more to perceived risks of obesity-related health problems for kids,” the pollsters note. Check-out NSLF’s recent report showing how the global media has linked obesity to countless ailments and illnesses, and you’ll see why adults’ perceptions are so skewed.

“The results of this latest annual Poll on the biggest health problems for children suggest that public efforts to address childhood obesity (from Michelle Obama‟s initiatives to local community programs) should be well received,” pollsters conclude.

There you have it, folks — a national poll that shows just how effective the State-Run Media has been in its efforts to manipulate the masses in to subscribing to the First Lady’s anti-obesity crusade to save Americans of all ages from the greatest threat of all — themselves.

We Need a “Let’s Drink” Campaign to Fight Adult Male Obesity

"Let's Drink!"

"Let's Drink!"

While First Lady Michelle Obama is using her “Let’s Move” crusade as a vehicle to “change” Americans’ eating habits and win the war against obesity, we’d like to see President Barack Obama engage obese men in something they can probably do to trim the fat with their hands tied behind their backs.

President Obama enjoys beer and has been known to combine it with his ‘domestic diplomacy‘ efforts in the name of breaking down barriers. Well, here’s his opportunity to demolish an enormous barrier that is preventing overweight men from achieving their true potential — the “Let’s Drink” campaign to end adult male obesity.

Here’s why it will work: “Swapping a daily glass of wine for a beer could help you save as many calories as you would by taking a 30-minute jog,” announced Britain’s Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) this week. The group represents the beer industry across Europe.

Who wouldn’t want to drink a cold beer on a hot summer day instead of going for a jog and sweating-up a storm? The same argument holds true for running in snow, sleet, rain and hail.

Further, encouraging American men to drink a beer a day would fuel the economy by pouring money in to local beer retailers, bars, restaurants and national brewing companies. It’s a win-win situation!

CAMRA reported that beer has been given a bad rap for enhancing beer bellies as opposed to shrinking them, as evidenced by research showing “34 percent of men and 29 percent of women incorrectly believe that beer had more calories than other alcoholic drinks.” Those beliefs are simply unfounded, the group claims.

“For years, beer has been blighted by a reputation for being more fattening than other alcoholic drinks, when in reality the exact opposite is true,” beer expert Prof. Charlie Bamforth said. “The major source of calories in any alcoholic drink is the alcohol itself, and because beer is the drinks category with the lowest average alcohol content, it is also lowest in calories — so for someone looking to lose weight, swapping their glass of wine for a beer every day would … cut out more calories than are burned off during a typical 30-minute jog.”

President Obama, American men suffering from all of the ailments and illnesses that your wife is using to scare women and children in to submitting to her plan to control what they eat and drink are counting on you to wage a war against obesity that they can easily win one beer and one day at a time.

Let’s replace that tired motto of “Hope” with “Hops” and create real “change” for American men that they can believe in and act upon to help themselves and our nation’s struggling economy one beer at a time! “Let’s Drink!”
