REST OF THE STORY: Anti-Happy Meal ‘Mom’ Is Also a Big Gov’t Bureaucrat

While countless media outlets continue to herald a ‘mother of two children’ who jointly filed a class-action lawsuit against McDonald’s intended to force a nationwide ban on Happy Meal toys, one big fact is ominously missing from most, if not all, news stories: Monet Parham is also an overzealous food cop employed by the California Department of Public Health.

Overlawyered.com’s Walter Olsen writes in the NY Daily News that Parham is anything buy a “random (if oddly well-informed) California mom,” as reporters interviewing her insist. He and fellow blogger Ira Stoll reveal that Parham “works on a federally funded program that campaigns to exhort people to eat their vegetables and that sort of thing.”

Stoll notes that in wake of her participation in the Center for Science in the Public Interest’s lawsuit against McDonald’s, Parham’s name “has been scrubbed from the website of Champions for Change, the Network for a Healthy California.” Despite attempts to preserve her identity as just ‘some ordinary mom,’ Parham’s participation in so-called ‘health eating’ conferences is still in plain sight (be quick before that disappears, too).

“She presents herself as an ordinary mother. She is not,” Olsen says. “She is an advocate, and an employee of a California agency tasked with advocating the eating of vegetables. To the extent that Monet Parham-Lee has EVER taken her daughter to a McDonald’s, she should have known better.”

Here’s a look at how the major media outlets are describing Parham. Some reporters have clearly and cleverly been duped by Parham while other ‘journalists’ are complicit in portraying her as an innocent mom whose two young children have been victimized by a greedy corporate food giant and its mind-controlling two-cent trinkets:

  • California mom Monet Parham” — San Francisco Chronicle
  • A California mother” — Washington Post
  • [P]arent Monet Parham” — CNN
  • Monet Parham, a 41-year-old mother of two” — TIME
  • Co-plaintiff Monet Parham, a Sacramento, Calif., mother of two” — Chicago Tribune [via Salt Lake Tribune]
  • A California mother of two” — NPR
  • [A] Sacramento mother of two” — Los Angeles Times
  • A Sacramento mother” — Wall Street Journal
  • Monet Parham, a mother of two” — UPI
  • [S]ome poor patsy of a mother” — NY Post (Nice try, but you still got duped!)

Media Silent as Pastors Urged to Pimp Obamacare

"Embrace Obamacare and you will be saved!"

"Embrace Obamacare and you will be saved!"

President Obama recently asked church pastors to promote the glories of socialized medicine to their flocks and the State-Run Media didn’t make a peep about this mingling of church and state.

James Towey, President George W. Bush’s director of faith-based initiatives, writes in his Sept. 25 Wall Street Journal opinion piece:

Imagine what would have happened had I proposed that he use that office to urge thousands of religious leaders to become “validators” of the Iraq War?

I can tell you two things that would have happened immediately. First, President Bush would have fired me—and rightly so—for trying to politicize his faith-based office. Second, the American media would have chased me into the foxhole Saddam Hussein had vacated.

Yet on Tuesday President Obama and his director of faith-based initiatives convened exactly such a meeting to try to control political damage from the unpopular health-care law. “Get out there and spread the word,” Politico.com reported the president as saying on a conference call with leaders of faith-based and community groups. “I think all of you can be really important validators and trusted resources for friends and neighbors, to help explain what’s now available to them.”

Since then, there’s been nary a peep from the press.

According to the White House website, the faith-based office exists “to more effectively serve Americans in need.” I guess that now means Americans in need of Democratic talking points on health care. Do we really want taxpayer-funded bureaucrats mobilizing ministers to go out to all the neighborhoods and spread the good news of universal coverage?

Surely, President Obama’s familiar with Exodus 20:10 that states, “but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.” Aside from using churches to promote a political message, it doesn’t look like he or his willing pastors have a problem with conducting government business on the Lord’s day, either.

Huffington Post Lefties Oppose Nanny State Interference in Schools – Go Figure!

Perfect for treating the toughest loads of b.s.

Perfect for treating the toughest loads of b.s.

Who would ever believe that the socialists, liberals and ‘progressives’ over at The Huffington Post would be appalled by big government interference in American citizens’ lives, much less, impressionable young school children whose minds they’ve yet to manipulate? Well, wonder no more, because they posted proof in words and pictures.

Of course, out of the 17 “Weirdest Things Schools Have Banned,” there’s no mention of Bibles being banned on Freedom of Religion Day, students’ crucifixes being mistaken for gang symbols, or countless instances of God being removed from morning classroom recitals of the Pledge of Allegiance, and that’s probably cool with Huffington Post’s Grace Green:

Schools have a responsibility to protect their students, but when it comes to things like silly bandz and pogs, we wonder just how much protection kids really need. We found some of the weirdest things schools have banned, and we have to admit we are shocked at what some people consider a threat. Some of it we understand, like no toy guns or cell phones, but no Cheetos or breast cancer awareness bracelets? That’s crazy talk.

Got that? There are exceptions to how much nanny state bureaucrats can interfere in American’s lives, but only when it come to eating Cheetos and wearing Silly Bandz or breast cancer awareness bracelets.

We’ll assume everything else that’s fun, tasty and emits that awful stench of freedom is still off limits, unless The Huffington Post tells us otherwise.

Poll Shows Media’s Efforts to Propagandize Obesity ‘Epidemic’ Proving Successful

The State-Run Media has proven itself effective in fear mongering on behalf of the First Lady.

The State-Run Media has proven itself effective in fear mongering on behalf of the First Lady.

The State-Run Media can pat itself on the back for a job well-done! A new poll shows that nearly 40 percent of Americans fear obesity is the greatest threat to tiny tots and teenagers, and it is only getting worse.

According to the pollsters at the University of Michigan Health System, fear among American adults that their children will be struck-down by the so-called obesity ‘epidemic’ runs counter to recent trends that show obesity rates beginning to level off. Perhaps, that is because the media continues to pummel parents with propaganda citing obesity’s wrath on Americans’ health while neglecting to mention any success stories in the ‘battle of the bulge.’

“[I]ncreasing concern among adults may relate less to the prevalence of obesity and more to perceived risks of obesity-related health problems for kids,” the pollsters note. Check-out NSLF’s recent report showing how the global media has linked obesity to countless ailments and illnesses, and you’ll see why adults’ perceptions are so skewed.

“The results of this latest annual Poll on the biggest health problems for children suggest that public efforts to address childhood obesity (from Michelle Obama‟s initiatives to local community programs) should be well received,” pollsters conclude.

There you have it, folks — a national poll that shows just how effective the State-Run Media has been in its efforts to manipulate the masses in to subscribing to the First Lady’s anti-obesity crusade to save Americans of all ages from the greatest threat of all — themselves.

“Frightening” Book Is a Must-Read for Freedom-Loving Americans

“There’s no question that our country is heading in the wrong direction, though you’d never know it if you get your news from the liberal media,” states an email alert from the Media Research Center (MRC). “While the so-called ‘news’ media’s continuous sugarcoating of negative economic news is deeply disturbing, what is truly egregious is the role they are playing in helping the Obama administration take away our liberties and control our lives.”

Terry Jeffrey, editor-in-chief of CNSNews.com, explains how this scenario will play-out in his “frightening” new book, Control Freaks: 7 Ways Liberals Plan to Ruin Your Life:

Like a lot of Americans, last year I was looking around to see all these ways where liberals in government were trying to increase government control over our lives — Obamacare, for example, some things that they’re doing on the free speech front.

So, I decided to take stock in asking the question, ‘Who’s is control?’

When you look at these various elements of your life, are you going to be able to make the decisions, or if the liberals succeed in advancing their agenda, is the government going to make the decision?’

And, in these several places, I think we’re moving more and more towards the government calling the shots, not you.”
