Tobacco Added to Happy Meal Czar’s Naughty List

Big government bureaucrats in Santa Clara County, Calif., recently robbed kids of their beloved Happy Meal toys and today they came back for seconds, this time, bullying smokers and punishing tobacco retailers for selling a product that is still legal for adult purchase in all 50 states.

Supervisor Ken “Unhappy Meal” Yeager and his merry band of nanny state ninnies on Tuesday passed an ordinance that slaps tobacco retailers with an annual $425 fine vending permit fee. New retailers are also required to pay a one-time “permit application” fine fee, the San Jose Mercury reports.

The Board of Supervisors claims these new fines fees were established to extinguish teenage smoking, despite the fact that it is already illegal in all 50 states for tobacco retailers to sell tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18.

On Nov. 10, the Nanny State Liberation Front was among the first to report that Santa Clara County was “targeting smokers in their own apartments, condominiums and townhouses.” The American Lung Association commended the county for its’ ‘successful’ month-long assault on smokers’ rights, declaring their fascist crackdowns “among the toughest in the nation.”

Next up, Yeager & Co. will float a ban targeting flavored tobacco products that will likely include cigars and pipe tobacco. Will you fight back or watch another freedom enjoyed by responsible adults go up in smoke?

Happy Meal Czar Targets Citizens’ Freedom to Smoke

Ken Yeager can't resist the urge to keep citizens safe from themselves.

Ken Yeager is on a crusade to prevent citizens from harming themselves.

The originator of the nation’s first Happy Meal toy ban is now targeting smokers in their own apartments, condominiums and townhouses. Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager declared his intrusive anti-smoking initiative makes this ‘progressive’ California suburb, once again, a “national leader” in keeping citizens safe from themselves:

“The residents of this county deserve strong policies to safeguard their health,” said Board President Ken Yeager, who brought the ordinance to the Board of Supervisors. “These ordinances make Santa Clara County a national leader in blocking tobacco sales to minors and protecting residents from secondhand smoke.”

In addition to an ordinance prohibiting smokers from lighting-up within the confines of their own private residences, Yeager and his nanny state cronies also outlawed smoking at outdoor dining facilities, motels and hotels, reports the San Jose Mercury News.

A new licensing tax that would force tobacco retailers to pony-up “$425 a year for a license, plus a one-time $340 application fee” will be voted on at the board’s Nov. 23 meeting.

Do you support or oppose Ken “Unhappy Meal” Yeager’s continued efforts to dictate to citizens how they should best lead their own lives?

Anti-Happy Meal Bandits Seek to Spread Misery Across US

Don't let these crooked food cops get away with their crimes against innocent children!

Don't let these crooked food cops get away with their crimes against innocent children!

If the originator of the Happy Meal toy ban and his merry band of nanny state nincompoops get their way, kids from sea to shining sea will be denied the right to enjoy a beloved tradition that’s as American as hamburgers and French fries in boxes with tiny toys wrapped in plastic.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager, the nanny state bureaucrat who launched the offensive war on Happy Meals last April and inspired San Francisco to follow suit, warns that his crusade is gaining momentum and support.

“It’s only going to pick up steam,” Yeager told the Los Angeles Times. “The fast-food chains must realize that the tide has turned.”

By his account, Yeager said he’s fielding inquiries from big city officials across the U.S. seeking to learn how they, too, can get away with stealing Happy Meal toys from children and ultimately determining what type of foods parents choose to serve their children. He noted that some health officials have told him his recipe for big government intrusion in citizens’ lives is “ripe to spread across the country.”

Here are a few steps to take if you don’t want Ken Yeager’s traveling circus of anti-obesity freaks trampling your freedom and liberties in your neck of the woods:

1. Blast Ken Yeager on Facebook and tell him to back-off and butt-out of decisions that are best left for parents to make. Since he no longer allows citizens he doesn’t know or trust to look at or post on his Wall, add him as a friend and then plaster his Wall with your thoughts.

2. Ditto for San Francisco Supervisor Eric Mar.

3. Visit ObesitySolvers.com and FreetoChooseOurMeals.com and learn how you can be prepared if the food police start abusing citizens’ rights in your town or city.

Action Alert: San Fran Poised to “Fast Track” Happy Meal Toy Ban

Liberate America's favorite clown from the grips of the nanny state!

Liberate America's favorite clown from the grips of the nanny state!

According to a report from our friends at FreetoChooseOurMeals.com, nanny state bureaucrats in San Francisco are poised to ram the Happy Meal toy ban down citizens’ throats as early as Sept. 13. Bob Cutler, CEO of Creative Consumer Concepts (C3), believes the toy ban will be “fast-tracked” by the city council just as a similar ban in Santa Clara County, Calif. was handled — by keeping citizens in the dark about an issue that adversely affected their rights to make lifestyle decisions for themselves and their own children.

“The [anti-toy] bill’s authors are expected to fast-track the proposal though the process which means it could be presented to committee mid-September, and if it passes, to the full board by late September or the first week of October,” Cutler said. “This legislation needs to be stopped before it reaches committee. If Mar, Chu and Campos’ proposal gets voted out of committee, the chances of it ultimately being enacted into law increase substantially.”

Cutler and his team have been working diligently since Happy Meal bans became all the rage in recent months among liberal California politicians-turned-food cops. He has launched FreeToChooseOurMeals.com and ObesitySolvers.com to educate and inform citizens about efforts they can make to prevent another ridiculous infringement on parents’ rights to determine what their children should consume.

Contact San Francisco’s anti-Happy Meal crusaders and tell them NO to the toy ban and any other legislation that eliminates consumers’ free choices:

Fascism Is the New San Francisco Treat

It's up to you, America, to turn that frown upside down! Don't let the nanny state get away with dictating to parents how and what their own kids eat.

It's up to you, America, to turn that frown upside down! Don't let the nanny state get away with dictating to parents how and what their own kids eat.

What the heck took San Francisco so long to officially draft a law banning toys in kids’ Happy Meals? As the NSLF reported on July 7, City Supervisor Eric Mar has been plotting against Ronald McDonald since April to kill the incentive for kids to crave his Happy Meals.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the city’s proposed crackdown on Happy Meals could have a “far greater impact” than a similar ban recently enacted by Santa Clara County, Calif.

“The restrictions would pertain to all restaurants but effectively would target the dozens of fast-food establishments in the city, among them McDonald’s, Jack in the Box and Burger King,” the Chronicle reports. “San Francisco’s legislation would not prohibit toy giveaways outright, but limit them to menu items that meet strict nutrition guidelines.”

In plain English, Mar’s law would outlaw any kids’ meal from containing more than 600 calories or 480 milligrams of sodium, effectively eliminating fast-food restaurants from serving hamburgers and french fries to children in Happy Meal-type menu offerings.

“Our legislation will encourage restaurants that offer unhealthy meals marketed toward children and youth to offer healthier food options with incentive items or toys,” Mar said. “It will help protect the public’s health, reduce costs to our health care system and promote healthier eating habits.”

The proposed law also dictates that Happy Meals include fruits and vegetables, though no indication has been given if ketchup, french fries and pickles meet Mar’s standards of approval. The only thing we do know is that Happy Meals “at least a half-cup of fruit and three-quarters of a cup of vegetables” must be included in the boxes that used to contain fun food and toys for kids.

“Toy bans are only proven to disappoint kids, frustrate parents and generate headlines for ambitious politicians,” Daniel Conway, director of public affairs for the California Restaurant Association, told the Chronicle. “The Board of Supervisors needs to stop gorging on political gimmicks and instead focus on creating jobs in their city.”

At the time of this posting, only 3 comments have been made on the Chronicle’s report, all of which oppose the city’s proposed ban on Happy Meals. Be sure to add your two cents and smack the voice of reason in to readers and City Council members who believe it’s big government’s role to tell parents how and what to feed their own children.

Tell City Supervisor Eric Mar to back-off and butt-out of parents’ roles in determining what’s best for their own kids to eat. Here’s his contact information:
